Former X Factor contestant Lucie Jones has been chosen to represent Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

Last week, Eurovision: You Decide saw six singers battle it out for the gig, all of which had previously auditioned for The X Factor.

Lucie, 25, competed in 2009, finishing in eighth place behind winner Joe McElderry and runner-up Olly Murs. After her elimination, she was signed to Select Model Management. The Welsh singer has also appeared in a West End production of Les Misérables and American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre.

This year's other Eurovision hopefuls were Danyl Johnson, Salena Mastroianni, Nate Simpson, Holly Brewer and Olivia Garcia.

As the UK is one of the main financial backers of the contest, we are fast tracked to the final along with France, Germany, Italy, Spain and this year's host Ukraine. A further 37 countries will compete in the semi-finals in early May before the final is broadcast live on BBC1 May 13.

Lucie will be singing 'Never Give Up On You', a huge ballad written by former Danish Eurovision winner, Emmelie de Forest.

Hopefully we can slightly improve on 24th place, where we've finished for two years running (NB never gonna happen)...
