Part one of season 6 of The Crown is officially here – finally – and we could not be more excited to see how the final episodes of the hit show unfold (we're already eagerly awaiting part two).

This season will be set during the 90s and early 2000s, tracing everything from Princess Diana's final years to William and Kate's romance and the wedding of Charles and Camilla. It's quite a lot of ground to cover, and, unsurprisingly, it means the cast and crew have been filming all over the country (and further afield). Just as the team pays close attention to detail when it comes to recreating iconic costumes, they are also scrupulous about recreating locations as accurately as possible.

This season, The Crown takes us to some breathtaking locations — many of which are the real-life spots where the royals used to (and still do) spend their time.

Here are all of the filming locations in season 6 of The Crown.

St. Andrews, Scotland

This season, the hit Netflix show traces the love story of Prince William and Kate Middleton from their early days as students at St. Andrews University in Scotland.

The university and surrounding town provided the backdrop for many of the scenes between the young couple, played by Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy. You'll spot lots of shots of the campus' courtyards and dorm rooms in the show. In fact, last year, real life students at St. Andrews went viral with videos showing the actors filming on campus.

Canary Wharf, London

Look closely and you may spot a very familiar sight during the scenes set in Chicago — it turns out, Canary Wharf in London was actually used to stand in for the American city. The production team even filled the area with hotdog stands, 90s phone booths and Chicago buses to complete the illusion.

Mallorca, Spain

Princess Diana spent much of her time after her divorce travelling, and there are a number of scenes this season set during her European holidays. Andratx, Mallorca provided the location for most of these scenes, including the famous shot of her sitting at the end of the diving board on her yacht in France.

Dartmouth House, Mayfair

In season 6 of The Crown, Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed spend their final moments together at The Ritz in Paris. However, filming for the scene actually took place here in the UK in London's Dartmouth House. Situated in Mayfair, the elegant Dartmouth House is now used as an event space.

Lancaster House

Lancaster House has become an all-too familiar staple in The Crown, serving as the interiors of Buckingham Palace in all six seasons. The mansion is situated nearby on The Mall, next to Clarence House and St James's Palace, and dates back to 1825.

Wilton House

Wilton House in Salisbury has also been used for certain locations in Buckingham Palace in past seasons, so there's a good chance you might spot some glimpses of the estate in season 6.

Burghley House

Earlier this year, film crews were spotted at Burghley House near Peterborough. In previous seasons, Burghley House was used as a stand-in for Windsor Castle, the royal estate in Berkshire.

Somerleyton Hall

Somerleyton Hall in Suffolk is used for Sandringham, the royal's estate in Norfolk. Back in 2020, the home underwent a major refurbishment for the sake of the show.

Ardverikie Estate

Ardverikie Estate can be spotted in this season of The Crown as a stand-in for Balmoral, the royals' castle in the Scottish Highlands. The castle is available for public tours and even features six holiday cottages on its grounds.

Belvoir Castle

Belvoir Castle is another frequent stand-in for Windsor Castle that can be spotted in most seasons of the show.

Winchester Cathedral

Filming at Winchester Cathedral took place earlier this year with the famous cathedral doubling at Westminster Abbey for scenes of Princess Diana's funeral.

York Minster

Over 400 extras were spotted filming at York Minter earlier this year and our best guess is that the location doubled as St. George's Chapel in Windsor for Charles and Camilla's wedding, which is due to come at the end of the season.
