I’m too cynical a reality TV viewer to believe anybody enters the Love Island villa genuinely looking for love. And yet some Love Island UK couples stay together in the outside world for years after the show ends. Some of them have even gotten married and had kids. They’re not the majority by any means, but the number of Love Island UK couples still together today is bigger than you might expect, proving some people actually do find love in this villa.

Most Islanders who are coupled up when they leave the villa will have uncoupled within a year, to nobody’s surprise. For instance, the news that season eight’s Paige and Adam didn’t last wasn’t exactly earth-shattering. Although we still mourn for our favourite Love Island odd couple, Davide and Ekin-Su.

But who could have predicted that Tommy and Molly-Mae from season five would become one of the strongest real-world couples to come out of the greater Love Island universe? Or that Callum's decision to recouple in Casa Amor in season six would lead to a long-term love affair in the outside world?

Not every Love Island couple is meant to go the distance, but these are the lucky few who are still together.

Series 1

Jess and Max

Jessica Hayes had a tumultuous time in the Love Island villa, to say the least, before eventually finding love (of a sort) with Max Morley when he entered the villa as a bombshell on day 14. The duo surprised everyone, not least of all themselves, when they upset favourites Hannah and Jon to become the first winning couple on Love Island UK.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: Jess and Max's relationship on the outside lasted a grand total of 40 days before they announced their breakup to the world on Twitter. Via Daily Mail, Hayes wrote, “Some things are just not meant to be….” While Morley said, “We gave it our best shot.”

Hannah and Jon

On their first day in the villa, Hannah Elizabeth and Jon Clark coupled up and never looked back for the rest of the season. They have the honour of being the first couple in villa history to have sex in that giant shared bedroom, and Jon proposed to Hannah before the season was even finished.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: Sadly, the romance was short-lived, and they broke up only nine months after leaving the villa, per Metro UK, and had no contact with each other at all until a televised reunion in 2020.

Josh and Lauren

Josh Ritchie and Lauren Richardson didn't make any lasting love connections in the villa but still managed to capture fans' hearts with their wholesome “friendship couple.”

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: Having never been in a relationship to begin with, we can't really say that Josh and Lauren ever really broke up. Needless to say, they are not together.

Cally and Luis

Cally Jane Beech entered the villa on day 21 and coupled up with Luis Morrison—whom she'd already known from the outside world. Despite their late start, these two quickly became one of the strongest couples in the villa and, despite their fourth-place finish, were definitely the season's longest-term success.

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: Cally and Luis were together for three years and became parents to the first ever Love Island baby, their daughter Vienna, in 2017. Unfortunately, things ended messily in 2018 after Cally accused Luis (according to the Daily Mail) of cheating on her while she was pregnant.

Series 2

Cara and Nathan

Amid all the drama, recouplings, and bombshells you find on every season of Love Island UK, there is also often one pair who couple up on day one and never looks back. On season two, that couple was Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey, who went on to win the whole season.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: Seven years later, Cara and Nathan are now married with two kids, Freddie and Delilah. Per Cosmopolitan, Nathan proposed to Cara in the Love Island villa, where it all began. “I brought her back to where we met and took her on a little treasure hunt around the villa to different places which meant something to us,” Nathan told OK!. “Finally, I blindfolded her, led her to the pool, and got down on one knee.”

Alex and Olivia

Season-two runners-up Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland didn't have quite as smooth a journey in the Love Island villa as Cara and Nathan, hitting speed bumps when Alex had sex with another Islander and when the lie detector test claimed he wasn't truthful about his feelings for Olivia. “When everyone started coming over to me, it got me upset,” he said at the time, per Digital Spy. “I know how I feel about the girl, and that's all that matters to me.”

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: It turns out he was right, and the test was wrong because since leaving the villa, these two have “gone from strength to strength.” According to People, Alex and Olivia married in 2018 and welcomed their first child in June of 2022.

Kady and Scott

When Kady McDermott, the bombshell's bombshell, entered the Love Island villa in series two, it wasn't long before she set her sights on Scott Thomas. Though their journey was a bit of a roller coaster, as the Islanders say, it ended in what looked like happily ever after when Scott formally asked Kady to be his girlfriend via bath towel message.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: For a minute there (a quick minute), it looked like Kady and Scott might really live happily ever after…until a year later when things came to a head following a giant fight at their shared flat in Manchester. According to Kady, at least, the final nail in the coffin was when Scott brought a bunch of rowdy “naughty boys” to their flat who swore at her and refused to leave.

Adam and Katie

When Katie Salmon entered the villa on day 35 and picked Adam Maxted as one of her three dates, it was like it was meant to be. For about two weeks.

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: Days after telling the world how excited they were to continue their journey and “getting to know” each other on the outside, Adam and Katie announced their split on social media. Adam tweeted, “It's like when you're eating a kebab after a night out & the first few bites taste good, but then you realise that it really isn't nice at all!” Katie responded, “It's like getting socks at Christmas. Practical but no fun.”

Series 3

Amber and Kem

Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies had about as many low moments as they did steamy ones, but there was no denying their chemistry throughout the season. (Or that adorable scavenger hunt of love notes when Kem asked Amber for her hand in relationship.)

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: According to The Sun, the relationship didn't last long outside the villa, mostly because the couple simply couldn't stop fighting. “They’ve been at each other’s necks for the past month,” an insider claimed.

Camilla and Jamie

On Love Island UK series three, Camilla Thurlow was in the villa for a full month before Jamie Jewitt arrived, but clearly, he was worth the wait. Jamie entered the villa as a bombshell in week five, and he and Camilla wasted no time in getting close, eventually getting treated to a night in the hideaway on Camilla's 28th birthday.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: Technically, Camilla and Jamie were the runners-up, but as the only couple from series three who are still together, they're winners where it counts. They got married in 2021, per People, and are now the parents of two young daughters.

Chris and Olivia

Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood's Love Island journey was bumpy—to say the least, but they managed to come together at the end. Maybe bickering like an old married couple was a good sign for their future. It seemed.

In the villa: Third place.

In the outside world: Or maybe the bickering was a bad sign, as Chris and Olivia ended things seven months later. “He’s gutted as he really thought Olivia might be the one,” a friend speaking for Chris told the Mirror in 2018. “He phoned her at the weekend to discuss things, and they decided they should end the relationship. He’s obviously hurt, but knows it’s for the best in the long term.”

Gabby and Marcel

They may have come in fourth place, but bombshell Gabby Allen and former Blazin' Squad member Marcel Somerville were series three's longest-standing official couple, which is still a bit of a win.

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: It seems that Marcel's little mishap in Casa Amor was an arbiter of things to come because the couple broke up a little less than a year after leaving the villa due to, per Bustle, Marcel stepping out on Gabby.

Series 4

Jack and Dani

If there were ever two Love Islanders who could really make a person believe in true love, it was watching season four's Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer. Who could have predicted that such a deep connection could form between the pen salesman with the blinding veneers and the gorgeous nepo baby with the heart of gold?

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: Of all the Love Island breakups fans had seen over the years, this one hit the hardest. After years of dating, the pair finally called it quits for good in 2019. “Sometimes things aren't meant to be,” Fincham said on Instagram.

Laura and Paul

She was the 29-year-old “granny” of the villa who'd been done dirty over the first several weeks. He was the hot, (slightly) older stud best known for being in a Britney Spears music video once. Laura Anderson and Paul Knops were doomed from the start.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: The relationship didn't last long, which wasn't a huge surprise to anyone. “When we came out of the villa, there was a lot of work-related things we did together, and then Paul went away for three weeks,” Anderson told OK! “I was hoping that when he came back, we'd spend more time together and build a proper relationship out of the villa. It didn't happen.”

Josh and Kaz

The minute Kaz Crossley caught Josh Denzel's eye in Casa Amor, it was curtains for his Main Villa partner Georgia. But you couldn't fault the couple's connection, which was strong enough to see them through to a third-place finish.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: Josh and Kaz made it six months outside the villa before deciding to call it. “Sometimes things don't go the way you planned, but you have to be grateful for the journey,” Kaz told her Instagram followers in January 2019, per E! News.

Megan and Wes

All the boys seemed to fall in love with Megan Barton-Hanson the moment she walked into the Love Island villa, but it was Wes Nelson who captured her heart in the end (even if it meant leaving Laura high and dry).

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: Unfortunately, Megan and Wes weren't meant to go the distance and wound up splitting up about a year after leaving the villa together and in love. “Our ambitions and goals in life are very different,” Megan told OK! of the split. “Wes is younger than me and wrapped up in the fame bubble—but I still love him, which is why it hurts so much.”

Series 5

Amber and Greg

Fans' love for Amber Gill—and indignation on her behalf when she was dumped after Casa Amor—was strong enough to grant her and Greg O'Shea a winning season. Even though she didn't meet Greg until he entered the villa in week seven.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: We knew that Amber and Greg didn't make it long in the outside world, but it wasn't until years later that Amber spilt the real tea. She and Greg's relationship was over before they even left the villa. In a YouTube interview in 2022, Amber revealed that she and Greg actually broke up after a massive fight the day before the final. “So like a day before the final, me and Greg had the biggest bust-up you could ever imagine,” she said. “We didn’t want to know each other.”

Molly-Mae and Tommy

Who could have predicted that season five's Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague would go on to become one of the strongest Love Island UK success stories? Their time in the villa wasn't without its drama, thanks to a long-simmering love triangle with bombshell Maura Higgins. Luckily, Tommy eventually realised where his heart truly lay, and the couple finished in second place.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: Tommy and Molly-Mae have more than proved that their love is the real deal. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Bambi, in January of 2023.

India and Ovie

India Reynolds and Ovie Soko were another late-in-the-game couple to miraculously make it to the final in season five after Ovie tried and failed to make lasting connections with Anna and Amber.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: Unfortunately, these two didn't last in the real world for much longer than winners Greg and Amber. India and Ovie reportedly broke up “amicably” due to conflicting schedules—despite all those nasty cheating rumours.

Curtis and Maura

Series five's Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins's Love Island journeys are mostly remembered for their relationships with other people. Pritchard's mad moves in Casa Amor while he was coupled up with Amy Hart led to the most epic breakup speech in Love Island history when Amy decided to leave the villa. And Higginss' best moment was arguably when she abruptly cancelled a hideaway appointment because the Islander in question was heard cracking a joke about finding out if the Irish bombshell was “all mouth.” And yet they ended up together. Whodathunk?

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: Curtis and Maura didn't last long as a couple outside the villa, and by March of 2020, Maura had announced on social media that the two had split. “We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship,” she wrote. “There is no easy way to get through a break-up and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work, but it wasn’t to be, and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future.”

Series 6

Paige and Finley

From the moment Finley Tapp stole Paige Turley from Ollie in week one, it was mostly smooth sailing in the villa for these two. Far from being derailed by Casa Amor, Paige and Finn made it boyfriend-girlfriend official just a few days after being reunited, and their bond carried them all the way to victory.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: They definitely had a good run, but sadly, Paige and Finley have officially called it quits after three years together, which she confirmed on an episode of After Sun. “We're still really good friends,” she said. “I think we drifted apart. We did lockdown together, and any and every struggle we could have faced, we were faced with.”

Luke T. and Siânnise

In the villa, Luke Trotman and Siânnise Fudge were the couple everybody wanted to be friends with—and not just because they were far and away the best dressed of the bunch. But seeing their genuine connection made it easy to root for them both in the villa and in the outside world.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: Alas, while they definitely had a good run, Trotman and Fudge broke up after two years of dating.

Demi and Luke M.

Justin Bieber look-alike Luke Mabbott found love with Demi Jones after weeks of ups, and downs, and dating other people. “I feel like we appreciate each other even more because I feel like we've been on, like, different journeys, obstacles. I feel like we've come together so naturally,” Demi said on the finale stage.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: While they may have come together naturally, so too did they break up. Demi and Luke ended their relationship during lockdown in 2020, and Demi explained on her YouTube channel that it may have partly been due to Luke's stepping out on her.

Ched and Jess

Jess Gale entered the villa alongside her twin sister, Eve, and was left to find love on her own after Eve was dumped from the island early in the game. Luckily, it wasn't too long before she found Ched Uzor in Casa Amor.

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: Sadly, Ched and Jess didn't have long outside the villa to nurture their relationship before lockdown came between them. “To confirm, myself and Ched have split, we are still good friends, and I wish him all the best x. Thanks for all the support you have given us since the villa,” Jess wrote on her Instagram Stories in June of 2020, per Cosmopolitan.

Callum and Molly

Callum Jones left fans fuming after he recoupled with Casa Amor Islander Molly Smith over his former partner Shaughna Phillips in season six of Love Island UK. But seeing as Callum and Molly are still together and going strong today, it's hard to say he made the wrong decision.

In the villa: Dumped week 38

In the outside world: “We've proven a lot of people wrong,” Callum later said, per the Mirror. “A lot of people thought I was a traitor or whatever they want to call it, but yeah. Everything is going well. I mean, the show was worth it.”

Series 7

Liam and Millie

Millie Court just couldn't seem to quit Liam Reardon, even after the truth about his Casa Amor wandering eye came out when they were reunited at the main villa. All it took was one heartfelt apology speech, and these two were back on track, eventually going on to win the whole shebang.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: First, they were on. Then they were off. Now they're maybe possibly back on. After telling The Sun that the reason for the split was the stress caused by living so much in the public eye, Reardon said in July of 2023, “Not saying we're back together…but if we were back together, that's why we're keeping it quiet.”

Chloe and Toby

Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran were pretty off-and-on right from the start, thanks mostly to Toby's constantly turning head. It wasn't until after Casa Amor when he'd already recoupled with Mary, that Toby seemed to finally realise his head and his heart were always with Chloe.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: Chloe and Toby's rocky road in the villa probably wasn't a great sign for their road outside the villa either. Sure enough, these two broke up for good after a year of dating, per E! News.

Faye and Teddy

Just when you thought nobody was going to be able to handle Faye Winter or her myriad insecurities, in walked Teddy Soares, and it was obvious the girl had more than met her match.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: Or maybe she hadn't because the couple confirmed their breakup in February of 2023.

Kaz and Tyler

Kaz Kamwi had already had a bit of a journey in the Love Island villa by the time Tyler Cruickshank walked in as a bombshell halfway through the season. Though their initial connection was strong, they had a bit of a setback when Tyler's head was turned in Casa Amor, but they found their way back to each other eventually.

In the villa: Fourth place.

In the outside world: The whirlwind romance of Kaz and Tyler sadly only lasted about three months post–Love Island, though at least the breakup seemed amicable, as they are one of the few couples to have made a joint statement announcing the split. “We are extremely sad to announce that we have decided to end our romantic relationship,” they said together, per Digital Spy.

Series 8

Davide and Ekin-Su

Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu certainly didn't have the easiest of Love Island journeys (e.g., “You're an actress!”), but at the end of the day, their chemistry was simply too red hot to deny, even to themselves.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: You could practically hear hearts breaking around the world when Davide announced in June of 2023 that he and Ekin had called off their relationship. “I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together, and I wish her nothing but the best,” he wrote on his Instagram stories, per E! News. The shocking split came a year after the couple was crowned Love Island winners and just a few months after the premiere of their spinoff show, Ekin-Su and Davide: Homecomings.

But wait…on August 23, Sanclimenti shared a photo of himself and Cülcüloğlu vacationing to his Instagram Story, sparking rumours of a reconciliation.

Gemma and Luca

Luca Bish seemed to become obsessed with Gemma Owen from the moment he saw her, which was enough to sustain their relationship for six weeks in the villa and just barely beyond that.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: In November of 2022, Owen and Bish became the first of their season's finalists to call time on their real-world relationship. “To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship,” Owen wrote via Instagram Story, per The Independent. “It wasn’t an easy decision, but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now.”

Indiyah and Dami

Things were looking dire for a minute when Love Island UK season seven's Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack both chose to recouple after Casa Amor. But, as they say, all's well that ends well, and things have definitely ended well for Dami and Indiyah.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: These days, Dami and Indiyah share a flat in London, and they've taken their signature “bants” to Twitter.

Tasha and Andrew

Everyone from the Love Island viewing public to their fellow Islanders doubted Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri. The tensions in the villa eventually led to Andrew's unforgettable post-Casa confession that he “like, licked her tit or whatever.” Even after all that, Andrew and Tasha found they couldn't stay away from each other. And they still can't.

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: Andrew solidified his love for Tasha, who has a cochlear implant with a tattoo reading “I love you” in British sign language. “So Andrew came home and surprised me with his new tattoo, I actually can’t even!!!!!!! How beautiful 🤍🤍🤍😭😭😭 it’s ‘ily’ in BSL with my cochlear implant wrapped around 🥹,” Tasha gushed on Twitter. As if that wasn't permanent enough, they now live together, and in June, they adopted a dog.

Series 9

Kai and Sanam

Kai Fagan had quite the roller coaster of a journey before Sanam Harrinanan arrived and quickly sealed the deal. First, he was with Tanyel, then Anna-May, then Tanyel again, then Samie, and then Olivia before Sanam came with Casa Amor, and it was all over.

In the villa: Winners

In the outside world: These two are, we're thrilled to say, still together and still adorable.

Lana and Ron

Ron Hall and Lana Jenkins coupled up on the first day in the villa and, minus a few detours at the start, mostly stuck together for the entire journey. By the time they reached the final, Ron and Lana had made it boyfriend-girlfriend official.

In the villa: Runners-up

In the outside world: The Rona romance came to an end in July of 2023, just three months after leaving the Love Island villa, per Cosmopolitan. A source told the Daily Mail, “Lana and Ron really put everything into their romance and have tried to make things work for some time now. Unfortunately, they have decided to separate, which is a decision they have made amicably, and of course, they still remain good friends.”

Samie and Tom

As soon as Tom Clare walked in as a bombshell, Samie Elishi knew she only had eyes for him. Their love was cemented with a poem, which Tom wrote and then read aloud to Samie as an apology for moving a bit mad in Casa.

In the villa: Third place

In the outside world: Original poetry wasn't enough to keep Samie and Tom together after the villa, and the couple broke up shortly after their Love Island journeys came to an end. Though there was some speculation that they'd rekindled things, Samie put the kibosh on those rumours in an interview with The Sun, explaining, “I'm happy that we don't hate each other now. No, we're not back on, we're just really good friends.”

Shaq and Tanya

Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad were two of season nine's original couples, and by the time of the finale, Tanya was already calling Shaq “the love of my life.” Host Maya Jama put it best when she declared them “cuties.”

In the villa: Fourth place

In the outside world: As of this writing, Shaq and Tanya appear to be as in love as ever. In a typically gushy Instagram caption from August 11, Tanya wrote, “Safe to say he’s not going anywhere now! I can’t believe I’ve found someone to bring to my whole family in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 and be welcomed so well by my family. I can only thank God 🙏🏾for the love that we have found in each other.”
