Stargate Atlantis actor David Hewlett, 39, and his fiancee, producer Jane Loughman delivered a baby boy named Sebastian Flynn. Sebastian weighed in at 9 pounds and 4 ounces. David has been communicating with his fans via his fansite quite a bit lately awaiting the arrival of his baby. He posted a twitter message about the exciting event saying:

Welcome to the world Sebastian Flynn! 9 pounds 4 ounces! Mum and son doing beautifully!

David plays the role of Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantic and he and Jane did not announce their pregnancy until the ComiCon convention in San Diego in late July. They kept the sex of the baby a secret until birth. David said:

Not a clue. We’re strangely old-fashioned that way. Everything else we’re as hi-tech as we can go, but we don’t want to know until we know.

David posted about the upcoming birth of their baby on twitter and his website, www.adogsbreakfastmovie.com, and mentioned that they chose an ORBIT stroller. He said he likes the new stroller since it is so geek-compatible and uses it to scare their dog, Mars.

David had hinted in various interviews that he thought the baby was due around the start of Atlantis’ new season [September 28] but that the baby was taking his/her time and was probably overdue. His father said they tried ‘to convince the child to shed Mummy‘ by going for walks. David’s new film, A Dog’s Breakfast, just arrived on DVD. He wrote and stars in the indie film.
