REVIEWER:

Samantha, Deputy Beauty Editor

BEAUTY BIO:

Dry skin with an oily forehead. Small breakouts occasionally, but nothing major.

WHAT I USUALLY LOOK FOR IN A FOUNDATION:

Give me all the dew and zero of the dull. My pet hate is a foundation that matches in tone but makes the complexion look flat. I like good coverage, but not heavy in weight.

GUERLAIN TERRACOTTA CUSHION FOUNDATION REVIEW:

Hot diggity damn, that packaging is BRIGHT. You won't miss it in your makeup bag, that's for sure.

I haven't found a cushion foundation to completely woo me yet, but once I read that this one 'looks to create a flawless tan and skin glowing with vitality' I was like, YES PLEASE, THANK YOU, AMEN!

I fake tan my face at least once a week (so I don't look like an extra from the Titanic movie), but of course, it's always the first place to fade because I cleanse everrrryday. Damn my good skincare habits.

Anywho, I was keen as a bean. It was four days after tanning when I cracked open the seal of the cushion compact in the shade 'natural' (it also comes in 'medium') and my face was definitely no longer matching my chest.

The product works exactly the same as any other cushion foundation; press the applicator in the pan to release product and away you go.

I was a little scared the fluid was too dark, but once applied to my skin, it blended well and added colour and coverage without being OTT. I did have to switch the applicator for a brush to blend it down my neck, but if you were on-the-go, you could definitely make do.

The coverage of this product is light to medium, which, if you have a tan already, is all you really need. It is really lightweight, which I love, and has a dewy finish when you first apply it, but on my skin, it ended up settling into a satin finish.

The shade however, truly was sun-kissed perfection. I don't know how they managed it, but it takes away my dull complexion, without leaving my face orange. It's like mixing a bit of your bronzer into your foundation for a subtle but damn good colour lift.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I suppose you could potentially get the same effect by using a slightly darker version of your foundation, but I really liked how this product brought my face to life and gave it some warmth. It would also be super convenient for travelling if you can't help but catch a natural tan on your face and need a product to accommodate. And WAIT, I can't believe I forgot to say it has SPF 20! What a bonus.
