Don't expect Emma Stone to quit acting for a surfing career anytime soon ... 'cause based on these photos of her lesson in Oahu last week -- she's not very good.

Ok, ok ... we know it's not easy -- and she did manage to stand up while in motion ... so you gotta give her credit for that ... but she's no Kelly Slater.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" actress has been in Oahu since last month filming a new Cameron Crowe film starring Bradley Cooper and Danny McBride.
