Area Code To Be Dialled Even To Local Numbers

Ofcom's thinking of making people in some areas dial their full area code - even if they're only calling locally.

The 01202 area in Bournemouth and Poole would be one of the first to be affected. The idea is to help free up more numbers and the regulator says it won’t affect the price of a call.

The new system will be phased in from around 2013
